I am sometimes asked what is my favorite weapon. My favorite Concealed Carry gun is the Colt
Commander in 45 auto. My reasons are.
-
The gun is the maximum size that fits my body
frame (6
foot and 250 pounds). It melts into my frame and can be carried
very concealed.
-
The single stack magazine allows a slimmer
profile for the gun for greater concealment. Fat double stack weapons
are more likely to show an
outline.
-
I have been familiar with the weapon since
Marine Corp ROTC and I am skilled with it.
-
It is very reliable and safe to carry which
are major considerations.
-
Holsters gun spare parts are easily accessible
and the gun is easily customizable if it needs to be for increased accuracy
or safety features.
-
The larger 45 caliber creates a larger wound
channel and the slower speed which means that it less likely to pass through
a person and strike an innocent bystander an intended target.
I do prefer hollow point ammo. Although I like to reload I do not carry reloaded
rounds for self defense. Rounds that I carry are self defense
rounds sufficient to stop an attack. They are not intended to
kill or cause excessive damage.
-
Although it is not a double action I just
plain like it and use it.
-
However if I had to have a pocket pistol it
would be a Walther PPK .380 which doesn't leave an outline in a quality
pocket holster.
