There are many reasons to carry any deadly weapon concealed. 

1. First displaying a deadly weapon gives up the tactical advantage of carrying it concealed.  

2. Second carrying a deadly weapon and displaying it instead of carrying it concealed means that predators are more likely to assault you to take away that weapon and then use it in a crime.  It invites the most deadly and desperate attacks.

3. Third it creates a risk of danger to others by creating an "attractive nuisance" because children and other persons that lack the training will attempt to handle or play with it out of curiosity.  

4. It invites theft of the weapon

5. Simple displaying it may cause concern to others and lead to criminal charges of brandishing, terroristic threatening, wanton endangerment, or attempted assault.  

For various reasons you should keep always carry your weapon concealed.  This allows you access to the weapon and keeps the weapon under your control where it cannot be stolen or misused.  Otherwise it should be locked away from others being able to obtain it.
